Xbox Live Marketplace Video Store

December 5th, 2007 by whit3kr0w

Just read that the Xbox Live Marketplace will have videos available to rent from 2 quid. That’s quite good. No more running to the Video Rental Shop. You can do that comfortably from your home if you own an Xbox and have an internet connection (broadband of course). This service is already available on the US which, according to Microsoft, has been a huge success. Europeans will have this service available from the 11th of December.

And yes, HD movies as well, but these will be around £3.20 which is not that bad (for rental).

“Titles available at launch include Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Matrix trilogy, Zodiac, Ocean’s Eleven, The Perfect Storm, Swordfish, Three Kings, The Good German, Training Day, The Fugitive, Risky Business, Space Cowboys, Eyes Wide Shut, Analyse This, Demolition Man, Eraser, Executive Decision, Lethal Weapon 3, Lethal Weapon 4, Mars Attacks, Clash of the Titans, Superman III and Dead Calm. ”

It’s not a huge list but it’s not bad for a start.

Music downloads will also be available.

UPDATE: I have checked another article which says that the film will be stored on the Xbox hard drive for 14 days after being downloaded, but once you press play on the film you have 24 hours to view it. - Source -
